Terms of Use.

1. Acceptance

By downloading or using the Protocol mobile application ("App"), you agree to these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App. These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Protocol App ("we", "us", "our").

2. Description of the Service

Protocol is a personal self-experimentation tool. It allows you to run structured, time-boxed experiments on your own behaviour and habits, log daily check-ins, track self-reported wellness metrics, and make an explicit decision about whether to keep or drop each habit.

3. Account and Backup

Creating an account is optional. The core features of Protocol work entirely offline without an account. An account is only required for cloud backup and cross-device restore.

You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
• All activity that occurs under your account.
• Notifying us immediately at enigmafischer@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorised access.

4. Subscription and Payments

Protocol offers a free tier and an optional paid subscription ("Protocol Pro"). Subscriptions are managed through Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS).

• Prices are displayed in the app at the time of purchase.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription through your Google Play or App Store account settings.
• Refunds are subject to the respective platform's refund policy (Google Play or Apple).
• We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with reasonable prior notice.

Free tier limits: One active experiment at a time and access to the base library. All data you generate on the free tier is yours permanently.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the App.
• Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our servers or other users' data.
• Use the App to track or monitor other people without their knowledge.

6. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, and branding in the App are owned by Protocol App or its licensors. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.

Your experiment data belongs to you. We do not claim ownership over any data you create within the App.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We are not responsible for the accuracy of self-reported data or the outcomes of any self-experiment.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Protocol App shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or personal injury, arising out of or in connection with your use of the App.

Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim, or €10, whichever is greater.

9. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time. You can delete all local data from Settings → Delete All Data. To close your cloud account and delete all backup data, contact us at enigmafischer@gmail.com.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access if these Terms are violated.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. If you are an EU consumer, you also benefit from the mandatory consumer protection provisions of your country of residence.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the App evolves. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be communicated via an in-app notice at least 14 days in advance.
